Since childhood, Laura Jane has cultivated her love for the outdoors and nature, through her time spent camping, canoeing and hiking.  Her passion led her to a degree in both environmental studies and earth sciences. It was in university that she discovered another passion, one that would influence and change her life forever: Yoga.

About

Laura Jane is a certified yoga instructor who has been dedicated to regular yoga practice for over ten years.  She received her 200-hour teacher training in the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica.

Laura Jane spent most of her childhood exploring nature in the woods behind her home, her cottage up north, or at the lake just down the road.  At an early age, she developed a strong appreciation for the outdoors, and to this day, still feels most at home in the fresh air.  While pursuing a degree in environmental studies at the University of Waterloo, Laura Jane discovered yoga.  At first she practiced yoga as a form of exercise; a way to get strong and fit. It didn't take long to realize yoga was so much more.

Yoga quickly became and integral part of Laura Jane’s life.  In the years after graduation she lived in five different cities across the province, keeping her yoga practice a priority throughout.  She’s practiced in over 20 different yoga studios, studying with many different teachers with many different styles.  From small eclectic studios and community centers, to more franchised styles like Moskha Yoga and Bikram, Laura Jane grew her practice and appreciation for the variation of expression possible with yoga.

Besides yoga, adventure and the outdoors have always been and continue to be Laura Jane’s truest passions.  From living in remote tree planting camps in northern Alberta, to solo canoe trips into Algonquin park, to soul searching road trips to Nevada’s Burning Man, to ten-day long silent meditation retreats, Laura Jane has embraced the unknown and challenge of new experiences.

Laura Jane began 'Yoga with Laura Jane' in 2015 to fulfil her dream of sharing yoga and her love for the outdoors with those living and visiting the community she calls home.  She believes teaching yoga is the perfect way to fill her life with more epic adventure and love for years to come!

Today Laura Jane lives in Port Severn, Georgian Bay with her husband, her two boys, and her two dogs.  She enjoys mountain biking, snowshoeing, rock climbing, SUP and of course YOGA!
