YIN YOGA & MEDITATION NIGHT
WHAT IS YIN YOGA?
Yin Yoga, is a slow paced, restorative, more meditative style yoga class. Poses are held for much longer periods of time (up to five minutes), and are generally done on the floor. Poses are aimed to work the lower part of the body making it perfect for runners and cyclist, working past the muscle groups and into the connective tissues (the tendons, fascia, and ligaments). More importantly, Yin Yoga is the practise of slowing down and paying attention to our bodies, our minds, and our breath.
(1.5 hour Yin Class)
Yin Yoga is the perfect prelude to seated meditation. It stretches out the lower body and starts to condition the mind for deep meditation. We will learn about different seated positions, and strategies and techniques for successful meditation. Meditation aims to silence the mind, cultivating inner stillness, and ultimately reduces stress, tension, and negative mind patterns. Mediation has scientifically been proven to increase immunity, reduce blood pressure, increase focus and memory retention and increase your overall sense of well-being and emotional health.
(1.5 hour Meditation – includes introduction, instruction, and seated meditation)
WHAT TO BRING
- pillows, meditation cushions, bolsters, or towels. Anything you think will help you sit more comfortably during meditation
- a sweater, socks and a option to bring a blanket
- yoga mat
